Looking for a change in your daily routine?

Marcie Hintz with son Hank Kamanakai right after their 2nd Degree Black Belt test. The quest for knowledge - whether formal training, vocational, outreach programs, self-development courses, philosophy, business and career or arts and crafts, fitness and health or recreation and leisure - continuing to learn on any level, is a way to nurture the MIND, BODY and SPIRIT and serve the community in which we live and work.

As a Karate Fitness Instructor and Coach, I have had the privilege of working with kids from 4 years to 60+ years of age, and it never ceases to amaze me, that to physically exercise the body takes spirit --- AND tremendous mental work.

Over the years I have enjoyed many excellent resources that empowered me to take responsibility for my life and offer myself a chance for greater success, love and happiness. I realize that my thoughts and actions create my reality; AND all the tools I need are already WITHIN me. These books (tapes and videos) not only have enriched my life and helped provide me with insight to my own unique gifts, but have served as guides to fostering self-esteem, good health, inspiring my work, discovering my passion, strengthening family and living my life with purpose.

WHO YOU ARE MAKES A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE
and the world needs your unique gifts too!

Aloha!

HEALTH Heal Your Body, by Louise Hay (B) one of my favorites!
Hay's "little blue book" is still considered the most comprehensive guide to the probable mental causes behind illness in your body. It offers positive new thought patterns to replace negative feelings and shows how a change in attitude can result in a permanent state of health and well-being.

You Can Heal Your Life, Louise Hay (B)

Louise's key message in this powerful work is: "if we are willing to do the mental work, almost anything can be healed." She explains how limiting beliefs and ideas are often the cause of illness, and shows how you can change your thinking - and improve the quality of your life.
Breathing, The Master Key to Self Healing, Andrew Weil, MD (T)  very powerful stuff and so simple.
The simplest and most powerful technique for protecting your health is absolutely free - and literally right under your nose." Andre Weil, MD
The Pleasure Prescription, Paul Pearsall, PhD. (B)
Are you feeling burned out? anxious? unmotivated? Dr.Pearsall makes the connection between current health research and the traditional practices of Polynesian cultures. Happiness and health are achieved through practicing the five qualities of "ALOHA": patience, connection, pleasantness, modesty, and tenderness.
FITNESS Supple Workout Stretching for Health & Flexibility, Lorna Lee Malcom and Mark Bender (B) I've incorporated lots of their stuff in my own fitness class.
This book offers a practical, easy to follow exercise program for the both sexes and all ages. An approach to exercise specifically devised by fitness experts.
Body Shaping, Michael Yessis, PH.D,  (B) I love this book! Great diagrams showing the areas your are working and the exercise to get the results you want!

PARENTING The Psychology of High Self-Esteem, Nathaniel Branden, PhD (T) Awesome...another favorite of mine...just 12 cassette sides away from living up to the supreme value of your life and your child(ren)!
"There is no judgment a person can pass that is more significant than the one passed on him or herself, no single factor more responsible for the shape his or her life takes." The name Nathaniel Branden has become synonymous with "the psychology of self-esteem," a field he pioneered nearly thirty years ago.
Meditations for Parents Who Do Too Much, Jonathan and Wendy Lazear (B) great for a quick tune up in minutes...very enjoyable.
This handy book with give you a brief, daily time out to recharge your batteries to meet the challenges of parenthood. It is a gentle reminder of the importance of slowing down to really pay attention to your children, give them the guidance they need in today's hectic and pressure-filled world, and recapture the joys and rewards of parenting.
Smart Discipline Video Program for Parents, Larry Koenig, PhD (V) I have to admit I was skeptical at first, but after watching the video I found it to be very motivating and it re-affirmed techniques that are effective.
Videotape and workbook are fun-filled with great ideas about discipline and self-esteem. Get your kids to do what you ask the first time (without screaming at the top of your lungs).
INSPIRATIONAL The Power of Now, Ekhart Tolle (B)
